The Bangkok Breast Cancer Support Group (BBCs) is a non-profit organization run by a group of dedicated ladies. We volunteer our time and effort to support those who have been struck by Breast Cancer. To be told you have Breast Cancer is shock enough without having to think of treatments, alternatives, and simply trying to deal with the situation.

This is where BBCs comes in. Our work is invaluable in that we provide the patient with important information and education regarding Breast Cancer, the kinds of treatments available, post operative care, counseling for patients and their families and we even make available (if needed) wigs for use after chemotherapy and prostheses for patients who need them after mastectomy.

We also visit patients after surgery to offer them our services in counseling, providing them with support and comfort after the trauma they have experienced. As there are many survivors of cancer within the group, these ladies provide first hand information and a “visual boost” to the new patients and are happy to provide answers to any questions the patients may have. This is crucial for the patient as it helps them in their recovery and recuperation.

On-going support is always available from the BBCs, even after the patients leave the hospital.

There is also an on-going outreach slum program, aimed at providing the impoverished women of the slums an opportunity to have mammograms and PAP smears. If any malignancy is found, the patients are treated, free of charge, at specified hospitals.

The BBCs can be contacted at our clinic at the BNH Hospital. We man the clinic every Tuesday evening from 16:30 – 19:30 and our volunteers will be happy to provide any information and help requested.

In our opinion, education and a community support system is the best defense against this frightening disease.
